"A Christmas Carol" now Ghost of the Past

With great regret, Theatre in the Park has cancelled its Columbia presentation of "A Christmas Carol," the musical comedy the Babcock Center Foundation has sponsored for the past 20 years. Rising costs make it prohibitive to mount the production away from its home in Raleigh.

Loss of the play will leave many Columbians wondering what to do during the long weekend after Thanksgiving. Our thanks to Ira David Wood, the perfect comic Scrooge, and the wonderful Theatre in the Park for a generation of corny jokes and warm memories. The Babcock Center Foundation extends its heartfelt appreciation to the thousands of Midlands residents who have supported us through the years by attending performances of “A Christmas Carol.”
