Description

The “Rocket” is a real Jupiter intermediate range ballistic missile designed by Dr. Wernher Von Braun and built by Chrysler. Its name is Columbia. The “Rocket” was given to the City of Columbia in the early 1960’s by the US Air Force.

In 1969 the “Rocket” found a home at the fairgrounds and was erected at a cost of $10,000. Since that time it has become a popular landmark on the fairgrounds and meeting spot for fair-goers.
